Bringing Hope and Joy to the Children of Cibecue
Early in the morning of April 12, 2026, the Board of Directors of Health Restored Ministries International, along with a dedicated team of volunteers, set out on a special mission. Traveling from various locations throughout the greater Phoenix area, they loaded their vehicles with supplies, crafts, snacks, and plenty of enthusiasm before embarking on the three hour plus journey to the town of Cibecue on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.
Just over two thirds of the way into our journey, the team came upon the breathtaking Salt River Canyon. The highway winded down one side, crossed the river below, and climbed up the other side. Many were tempted to stop and admire the stunning scenery; however, their focus remained on the children waiting for them and the opportunity to share a day filled with fun, encouragement, and the love of Christ. When we finally turned off the main highway and saw the sign that read "Cibecue 12", our anticipation jumped several levels since we knew we were almost to our destination.
Upon arriving, volunteers quickly began setting up in anticipation of the children's arrival. Before long, families began gathering, and the excitement in the air was contagious. Throughout the day, children enjoyed energetic Bible action songs, creative ceramic painting projects, delicious snacks, engaging stories, and meaningful interactions with caring volunteers. Parents and guardians were welcomed as well, with several staying and connecting with the team.
More than just a day of activities, this event was an opportunity to build relationships, create lasting memories, and introduce children to the hope and love found in Jesus Christ. Seeing the smiles on their faces and witnessing their enthusiasm made every mile of the journey worthwhile.
After five rewarding hours, the event came to a close as children returned home with their families. The volunteers gathered to thank the Lord for the opportunity to serve and expressed their appreciation to Dr. Ugonna Woods for coordinating such a memorable and impactful outreach. Following a light meal, the team packed up, captured a group photo, and began the journey home, grateful for all that had been accomplished.
